Los Prados is one of the older guard gated communities on the north side of town, and it has a feature almost no other Las Vegas golf community has: the homeowners own the course. The address reads Las Vegas, but anyone who lives up here will tell you it is part of the north valley. The main gate is on Lone Mountain Road, the back gate is on Ann Road, and both are staffed 24 hours a day.
It was built in the 1980s, so the trees are big and the place feels settled. The 1,358 homes are split into 21 villages, from patio homes and townhomes to single-family homes along the fairways. To see the ones on the course, visit our Los Prados golf homes page.
Owning the course cuts both ways. The neighbors decide its future rather than an outside company, but the association also pays to run it, along with the clubhouse and pools. That makes the association's budget and reserves worth reading before you buy. Four villages are age-restricted for buyers 55 and over and have their own sub-association, so check which village a home is in and what rules come with it. And since most homes date from the 1980s and 1990s, plan on a full inspection.
The association runs a long list of amenities: two pools, tennis courts redone in 2014, pickleball, shuffleboard, a volunteer library, a 2.2 mile walking loop on Los Prados Circle, and a 205 space RV lot. The clubhouse has the 19th Hole restaurant and lounge. The course is just under 6,000 yards and open to the public, and residents who join get better rates and first pick of tee times. Painted Desert is the other guard gated golf community close by, and Centennial Hills is up the road.
