What is it like to live on The Legacy Golf Club?
Legacy is the easygoing way to live on golf in Henderson. The course is public, the neighborhood is about 15 minutes from the south end of the Strip, and the homes run from condos to custom houses behind two gates. You get a fairway behind the house without an initiation fee.
Most homes went up in the 1990s around the Arthur Hills course, which opened in 1989. That means mature trees and settled streets, and also roofs, air conditioners, and plumbing that may be due for a second round. The 10th hole, with tee boxes shaped like card suits, is one of the best known holes in town.
Legacy is really a few neighborhoods. Grand Legacy is guard gated, and inside it Legacy Estates has a second gate and bigger custom homes. Master Series is a gated tract where many homes back to the course. Around them are smaller neighborhoods and condos with lower prices and lower dues.
The course has had a scare. It closed in July 2017 after a sale, neighbors pushed back on plans to redevelop it, and it reopened that October. It has been open for public play since, but it is still privately owned, so ask what protects it before you pay extra for a golf lot.
