Las Vegas National Golf Homes

Las Vegas National Golf Homes for Sale

Older homes on a public 1961 course, about ten minutes east of the Strip.

What are Las Vegas National golf homes like?

They are older single-family homes and townhomes on a public course a few minutes east of the Strip.

  • The course opened as the Stardust Country Club and took the Las Vegas National name in 1998.
  • It is public, so anyone can book a tee time and nothing comes bundled with the house.
  • Tiger Woods won his first PGA Tour event here in 1996.
  • This is an established neighborhood, not a master plan, so gates and HOAs vary by subdivision.
  • The Strip, the airport, and UNLV are each about 10 minutes away off-peak.

Community guide

What is it like to live on Las Vegas National?

You get a lot of golf history with a central address. Bert Stamps designed the course, and it opened in October 1961 as the Stardust Country Club at 1911 East Desert Inn Road. After a few other names, it became Las Vegas National in 1998.

The list of people who have played here is long. The LPGA Championship was held on this course from 1961 to 1966, PGA Tour events followed from 1967 with winners like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Lee Trevino, and Tiger Woods picked up his first PGA Tour win here in 1996.

What buyers should expect is an older neighborhood. Houses and townhomes went up over many years, so floor plans, lot sizes, and condition change from one street to the next, and only some homes back onto the fairways. There is no club to join, and some homes have no HOA at all. Plan on a careful inspection, including the sewer line, and expect some homes to need updating. Las Vegas Country Club, a short drive west, is the gated, private club option in the same part of town.

Before you buy

What should you check before buying a Las Vegas National golf home?

Inspect an older home thoroughly, find out whether it has an HOA, and check the lot against the course before you remove contingencies.

  1. A full inspection

Many homes here are decades old. Look at the roof, electrical panel, plumbing, and air conditioner, and consider a sewer scope.

  2. HOA or none

Some subdivisions and townhome complexes have associations and some homes have none. If there is one, get the resale package with dues, assessments, and transfer fees.

  3. Golf frontage

On a fairway lot, look for ball damage on walls and windows, and ask about the view fence and any easement. The course is run separately from the homes.
