What is Royal Highlands like?

Royal Highlands has a guard at the gate day and night, and with 669 homes it is one of the larger neighborhoods in Southern Highlands. American West built it from 2003 to 2008 on the east side of the community, above Starr Avenue.

Nearly every house is two stories. Sizes start near 1,900 square feet and go past 6,000, so one gate covers family-size homes and much bigger ones.

Over the past year, homes here sold for anywhere from about $485,000 to about $1.6 million. You will see Scottish street names, like Royal Scots Avenue. Owners pay two associations, the Southern Highlands master and Royal Highlands. The private Southern Highlands Golf Club sells memberships on its own.
